Goodbye Days by Jeff Zentner

Accidents aren’t good-especially one that has to do with a car. A day ago Carver had 3 Goodbye Daysawesome friends (Mars, Eli, and Blake), and the next day, they were in a car accident-and Carver feels responsible. Especially since he’s the one who texted the driver, Mars. Now the guilt in his chest is building a wall around of his heart- and not only that, some other people are blaming him too. Like, Eli’s twin sister, who’s trying to freeze him to death with her death stare, and Mars’s father, who’s a judge (uh-oh). Then he realizes he may be charged with ‘negligent homicide’. He’s waist-deep in trouble, and he has no way out. If things take a wrong turn, he’s either going to end up in juvenile detention, or even prison.

I personally never liked reading crime stories about so-called ‘murder’, but this one definitely doesn’t count. It is a thriller that will keep you captivated until the very last word. I don’t think about death a lot (and thinking “I wonder what it feels like to be dead” in my bed at night DOES NOT count), but during the whole book, death was like the literal entire subject. Oh, yes. This book was super super emotional, so people who can’t stand a constant depressing scene, this book is not for you. But the thing is, I don’t remember reading a book that had me laughing and crying. Most of the time. But this book would be memorable anyways. 🙂
