Me and Marvin Gardens features a cute little animal and a little boy. This little boy lives in a cornfield that has been dug up by bulldozers. The author wrote that as the setting because she herself grew up in a bulldozed cornfield in southeastern Pensylvania.
After reading the spectacular book, I found out that the author has an interesting way of writing. She tends to like making names for animals, and also writes from the little boy’s point of view.
As I said, there were two main characters in the book- an unknown animal, and a little boy. What really happened was… one day, a little boy named Obe was walking in the field beside his home, and encounters a strange animal. But he decides against checking it out. Instead, he walks back home. The next day, he finds himself by the stream, and right across from him, is the animal. This time, Obe didn’t react fast enough. The animal bounds right beside him. Surprisingly, when Obe looks at the animal, all he sees is a pig snout, a horse legged, jello-formed, half-dog animal. It’s unlike anything he’s ever seen.

I knew that the book is fiction, but it felt so real! Whenever the author writes about the small boy, I feel like it is talking about me.
I rate this book a 4.5 out of 5, because of its interesting events, but I took off a bit because I felt that there should’ve been just a tad bit more of detail.
