Teen SRC 2018- #famous by Jilly Gagnon

#famous by Jilly Gagnon

So, this book is just about what you would expect out of a normal romance story-NOT!!! Oh, and this book is based on ‘Alex of Target’ (a boy who becomes famous because a girl posted a photo of him online. Anyways, this book is about a girl named Rachel who secretly sneaks a photo of her crush, Kyle, when he was working at Burger Barn. She posts it on social media, and doesn’t seem to think it’s that big of a deal. After all, she only has a few followers. But that photo gets seen worldwide, and girls from all over the world are crushing on Kyle. While Kyle’s getting all the fame and love, Rachel isn’t having that great of a life. She starts getting threats and remarks on her looks-and most of them are bad. Plus, some people even decide that it would be extremely entertaining to send DEATH THREATS to her! But through all the chaos, Kyle and Rachel are starting to develop a friendship-and maybe even something more. But then Rachel starts to doubt Kyle-is he really the nice boy he is in front of the cameras? Or not?

So….yeah. I definitely recommend this book to people who are fans of Sarah Dessen or Jenny Han! 🙂 I loved this book so much! I don’t think the Richmond Public Library has this book, but I don’t know because I borrowed my copy from my friend. ;P  Anyways, I really hope you guys read it (trust me, this book will take you on the ride of your life!)

Teen SRC 2018- Bad Blood by Jennifer Lynn Barnes

First of all, before starting this review, I think I owe an apology to the library staff who, generously, hosted the Escape Room on August 14th. I had registered for this event, but hadn’t ended up going. I had to go to the hospital for a family emergency at the last minute, and had no time to un-register the class. I’m sorry for any inconvenience it may have caused.

So, on to the book: 🙂 This book was an awesome novel that has just the right amount of Bad Blood (The Naturals, #4)horror and murder! I think I’m emotionally drained… Oh, and be warned: This is the 4th book in the series: “The Naturals”. But nevertheless, I read this book without reading the first 3 books, so I guess you don’t really need to read them in order…I loved this book with all my guts! So, this book was about a girl named Cassie who joins the FBI Natural’s program. Her main goal is to find out what really happened to her mother- if she was murdered or not. And Cassie makes a discovery that is just what she suspected: her mother is alive-but she’s held captive somewhere secret. The people holding Cassie’s mother captive are much more powerful than anticipated. Cassie and her team start to little by little uncover the truth about the secret society that has been murdering innocent people-as it seems. But as the bodies pile up, Cassie’s team realize something-they’re not just following the hunter, but they’re becoming the hunted.

I wanted to take my time and savor each word, but like I always do, I whizzed right through. But my main reaction was: THIS WAS EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED BUT SO MUCH MORE! :)💖

Teen SRC 2018- Waiting For You by Susane Colasanti

So, this book is kind of hard to explain without making it sound like a boring book without Waiting for Youany excitement, so, I’ll try my best to not make you fall asleep. This book is about a girl named Marisa who is ready to turn herself into a new girl. She’s planning on a boyfriend, a great year, and, well, I guess that’s really all. So, when her longtime crush, Derek, asks her out, she feels like a prince has just come to rescue her. But unfortunately, the relationship doesn’t go as great as expected, with so many other problems that rise up along the road, like her parent’s divorce, and a fight with a friend. She isn’t so sure about her dreams of a ‘happily ever after’ now.

I loved this book because it showed Marisa’s perspective so well that I could imagine almost exactly how Marisa was feeling!~ I definitely recommend this book! 💖

Teen SRC 2018- Wired Man and Other Freaks of Nature by Sashi Kaufman

This book is about two boys, Tyler, and Ben. Tyler is the golden boy, and he’s worshipped Wired Man and Other Freaks of Natureby everyone. But Tyler has secrets of his own, and they’re starting to show under the golden boy cover. Ben, on the other hand, is partially deaf. The only things that don’t make him feel like a freak are soccer and hanging out with his best friend Tyler. And then Ben meets Ilona. She’s kind of a weirdo, with blue 💙 hair, tattoos, and no friends. But ever since Ben and Tyler have been drifting apart, Ben doesn’t know what it’s like to be alone-and maybe everyone needs to hang out with a fellow freak now and then.

I loved the whole structure of this book, and although there were a few ‍🌈LGBTQ+ themes in the book, I don’t think the author addressed it very well, so if you’re sensitive in topics like that, I highly doubt you will enjoy this book.

Teen SRC 2018- The Only Thing Worse Than Me is You by Lily Anderson

First of all, I have to say that this cover was sooooo cute. 🙂 Okay. Statement stated, so we The Only Thing Worse Than Me Is Youcan actually start this review in a proper manner. So, this book is about a girl named Trixie. Oh, and can I just say that I LOVE the name Trixie? Anyways, Trixie has 2 goals for her senior year: 1. Save enough money to buy the Doctor Who figurines from the local comic book store, and 2. to place 3rd in her class and knock Ben West down to number 4. Trixie is determined to give up her sleep to knock Ben down. But then her best friend starts dating Ben’s best friend. Aaaannndd….she’s dumped with Ben and told to be nice to him. They develop a shy friendship, but then, Trixie’s best friend gets expelled for cheating, Trixie doesn’t really believe it. Ben and Trixie have to pick who’s side they’re on….and they might not choose the same side.

This book cracked me up and I couldn’t put it down at all! I love Trixie so much! (And Ben….but not as much 😉 ) Oh, and I definitely recommend this book to huge nerds and fans of Marvel stuff. (Not me, but I still enjoyed this book tons). :)💕

Teen SRC 2018- Run by Kody Keplinger

A blind girl and a bisexual girl get into a car, steal it in the middle of the night, and have Runthis awesome adventure. That’s what it may seem like at the start, but nope. It’s so much more than that! This was my first Kody Keplinger book, and I LOVED IT! 💕💕

This book is about two girls: Bo and Agnes. Bo has a reputation that isn’t so great, a mom who is addicted to meth and drugs in general, and a deadbeat dad. Agnes is blind. Those three words basically sum up her life. She doesn’t have priveliges that normal high school kids would have, like staying out until after 10pm. But Bo and Agnes develop a friendship, and when Bo needed Agnes, she didn’t hesitate to say yes. So, they stole a car🚗, bought a car, tracked down Bo’s dad, leading the police on a wild goose chase, and most of all, confronting some ugly secrets of the past.

When I finished this book, it gave me a jittery feeling-kind of like when I finished reading the book: Eleanor and Park. I particularly loved this book because it had a few twists that I definitely wasn’t expecting, and I definitely recommend this book!😍😍 Happy Reading!😊

Teen SRC 2018- The Killer In Me by Margot Harrison

The Killer in Me

Long review short, this is an extremely addictive thriller about a girl who knows more about a murderer than anyone could ever want to. I loved the whole twisty plot of the book and it hooked me up by the first sentence! But the thing is, by the first paragraph, I was jumping at every little noise, checking my doors and windows, and locking practically everything that has a lock. 🙂 So. This book was really horrifying and awesome at the same time.

This book is about a girl named Nina who knows about the Thief. The Thief is a killer. Or, as the book says: ‘a death vacuum’. Nina knows how the Thief hunts, his killing methods, how he disposes of the bodies….and….I think that’s enough. Nina, after all this time, tracks the Thief (with the help of her former best friend, Warren) 2000 miles-to his home turf. But when she finally meets the Thief, the man she sees is nothing like the crazy psycho who is somehow ‘connected’ to her is a strange way. But then, as Nina gets to know the man more and more, she starts to wonder: is there even a Thief in the first place?

I loved all the suspense, and I was really surprised by the plot twists that were in the book. I recommend this book to people who are a fan of mysteries and plot twists! 😛

Teen SRC 2018- Swagger by Carl Deuker

Swagger

This book is about a boy named Jonas. He has his eyes out to jump from high school to college basketball. He plans to bring Levi, his quiet best friend, along. While playing basketball, they meet a guy called Ryan Hartwell. Levi is not doing well in school and needs to get his grades up in order to stay on the basketball team. Ryan and Jonas tutor him, but what Jonas doesn’t know is that Hartwell is abusing Levi. He has to debate between calling Hartwell out on it or ignore it to keep his spot on the basketball team.

I really loved this book. Believe me when I tell you that you’ll fall in love with the characters. They really stuck out! I really recommend this book to people who have an interest to basketball or just books that will make you cry and laugh and cry and laugh all over again. 🙂

Teen SRC 2018- People Like Us by Dana Mele

People Like Us

I  am, honestly, throughly afraid of horror murders, but I just couldn’t resist. This book’s protagonist, Kay, is a star soccer player and has a tight-knit group of friends. But the day when she and her friends find a girl’s body in the lake, Kay’s life is on the brink of self-destructing. She has carefully buried her past away, and the past is the past…right? The dead girl has left Kay a computer coded message…or, as one might say: a scavenger hunt. But Kay starts to realize something. The detectives are starting to suspect Kay more than anyone else. Kay only has a limited amount of time to find the murderer, or her life is at stake. 🙁

I recommend this book to people who are fans of: Pretty Little Liars, Dangerous Girls?Dangerous Boys, and murder mysteries in general! 🙂 So, this book was like a buy-every-copy-available-and-force-all-my-friends-to-read-it stage of awesome. Seriously. Although I didn’t really force anyone to read it. 😉
