The Name of the Star by Maureen Johnson

In modern day London, a new case of Jack the Ripper has appeared. Much like the original Jack in 1888, its victims were found brutally murdered. And it got away with it. No sign of it ever appeared on the security cameras stationed around where the body was found. The victims didn’t even look like they struggled.

American teenager Aurora (Rory) Deveaux had just arrived at London for boarding school. There she struggled to adjust to the different teaching style of London. One night, being at the right place at the right time, she saw a bald man behind her. Her roommate who was with her at that time had saw nothing, even though she was staring behind Rory that night. Rory discovered an ability of her own to help find the new Jack the Ripper. But it is a little hard to convince people that you can see ghosts after almost choking to death.

It’s a book for those mystery and horror lovers out there.
