Teen SRC 2018- The Eye of Minds by James Dashner

The Eye of MindsThe Eye of Minds by James Dashner

This book takes place in a dystopian future where video games are so immersive that you have to get put to sleep in order to play them. Every one plays together and interacts just as in real life, but things get weird when Michael, the protagonist, tries to stop someone from committing suicide. It turns out the girl trying to commit suicide, altered the code so that if she dies in the game she dies in real life. During this struggle Michael finds out that there might be something more devious at play.

I enjoyed this book and recommend it to anyone who likes this genre.

Teen SCR Review – Seraphina by Rachel Hartman

SeraphinaSeraphina by Rachel Hartman

Seraphina is about a young girl discovering hidden knowledge about herself.  The book is well written with an interesting plot line, however, when I first picked up Seraphina I thought it would be a nice fantasy novel.  It is based in fantasy, however, the further I got into the book I discovered it is more of a dialogue on racism, war, and romance.  There are lots of fantasy elements, but it simply is not what I expected.  If I were into reading books on those topics, I think I would have enjoyed this book much more than I did.
